Understanding Your Seaside Park Court Summons

It can be intimidating to receive a summons from the court, especially one which requires a court appearance. If you see that the “court appearance required” box on your summons is checked, you must take action immediately. Basic information such as court procedures, how to fill out paperwork, and some information from your case file can be obtained by speaking with the Court Administrator.
However, the Court Administrator cannot offer you legal advice, or advise you on how to proceed with your case. Court office staff also cannot talk to the Judge or Prosecutor on your behalf, or make any changes to an order issued by a judge.
Even if an offense can be settled without a court appearance, you may still want to appear since paying the fine means entering in a permanent guilty plea to your charge. It's recommended that you speak to an attorney with extensive experience in municipal court hearings. A lawyer can discuss all your options and help you decide on the best course of action.

The Benefits of Hiring a Seaside Park Attorney

Violations, such as DWI's and drug charges, can result in serious consequences such as loss of license, massive fines and even jail time. It is very important that you put together a solid defense with the help of a knowledgeable Seaside Park attorney. Having a lawyer will allow you to request a postponement during which you can gather evidence, prepare your defense and even talk to the Prosecutor before the court date.
Since New Jersey municipal courts typically hear pleas of not guilty pro se (without an attorney) last, having an attorney generally results in being heard faster. You will also have greater peace of mind at your hearing, since your attorney would have advised you of the court's procedures and what is expected of you during the court appearance.

The Community of Seaside Park, New Jersey

Seaside Park is a borough in Ocean County, situated on the Barnegat Peninsula. It is a popular tourist destination during beach season, especially in the peak months of July and August. Seaside Park is a distinctly separate borough from Seaside Heights, though they are bordering communities.
The borough's name was originally spelled “Sea Side Park”. However, in 1914, a newly appointed municipal clerk accidentally wrote the name as “Seaside Park” for the council minutes. The practice caught on, and eventually became the official spelling.
