Fair Haven Borough Municipal Court Appearance Expectations

When criminal matters and DWI charges are involved, a court appearance is necessary.  In Fair Haven all summonses are expected to be taken care of by payment or a court appearance. If “court appearance required” is checked on your summons, the expectation is for you to appear in court at the proper location at the designated time, even if pleading guilty is your intention.
If you have a payable violation, and you fail to pay, a “failure to appear” notice will be sent out to the defendant. New Jersey driving privileges will be suspended if payment is not received by the issued payment date. If the expectation of a personal court appearance is violated, the judge may also issue a warrant for the defendant's arrest.
Arriving prior to the designated time indicated on the court issued appearance document, along with having all proper documentation presented is of the utmost importance.  Your arrival will be met by a court officer, after going through a metal detector. When this part of the process is over, further instructions will be given.
