Beach Haven Borough History
Beach Haven is a small borough with a land area of nearly one square mile, located near the south end of Long Beach Island. In 1871, Tuckerton developer Archelaus Pharo bought the 670 acres of Long Beach Island that would become Beach Haven for $243. It was developed to attract wealthy summer residents from Philadelphia. Beach Haven is home to the Long Beach Island Museum, the Museum of New Jersey Maritime History, and the Surflight Theatre.
