Payable Offenses for Hazlet Municipal Court

If you are not required to appear in court, you can choose to satisfy your summons by making a payment to the court office. The court office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and accepts payments of cash, check or money order. After office hours, you can drop off your payment in the drop box, which is located in the lobby of the police station. Please make sure payments are in the form of check or money order if using the drop box.
The NJMC Direct website at www.njmcdirect.com can be used for paying parking and traffic tickets that do not require an appearance only. You must pay using a Visa or MasterCard logo card, and be prepared to pay a convenience fee based on the amount of your fine.
It's important to note that paying your ticket results is an automatic guilty plea. This can have serious consequences, such as added points on your license and suspension of driving privileges. It is recommended that you seek legal advice from a knowledgeable Hazlet, New Jersey lawyer about your summons. An attorney can help you understand your rights, and advise you on whether or not you should contest your charges in court.

Important Tips for Your Hazlet Court Hearing

Municipal courts adhere by strict rules when it comes to procedures and etiquette within the courtroom. Before you leave for court, make sure that you have all the relevant items, such as your photo ID, summons, and any supporting documentation related to your case. It is best to arrive early since you will need to check in with the Court Administrator, who may have important instructions.  Arriving early will also give you an opportunity to speak with the Prosecutor before your hearing.
Prior to entering the courtroom, make sure to turn off or silence your cell phone. Also, dispose of any food or drinks, and be prepared to sit silently until it is your turn to speak. Noise disruptions are not tolerated since New Jersey municipal court hearings are sound recorded.
