Appearing at Lakehurst Borough Municipal Court

A court appearance is required for criminal matters, DWI charges, and if “court appearance required” is checked on your summons, even if you are planning to plead guilty. Defendants, or their attorneys, can meet with the borough prosecutor before their scheduled court session. When you meet with the prosecutor, you will have the opportunity to negotiate and it's highly recommended that you have an experienced Lakehurst Borough Municipal Court lawyer to conduct this negotiation for you. A reduction in the severity of your charges will be significantly beneficial for your criminal record, as well as reduce the amount of your fine and, if applicable, incarceration time.
You should arrive early on the date listed on your ticket, summons, subpoena or court notice, and bring all of your documentation with you. If you do not appear in court on the date indicated, you must immediately call the court office to reschedule or a Failure to Appear notice may be issued, and an arrest warrant may be generated at the judge's discretion.
