What Happens in a Divorce Mediation in New Jersey?

Posted by Vincent C. DeLuca | Jun 01, 2021 | 0 Comments

In a divorce mediation, the divorcing couple meets with an agreed upon divorce mediator, preferably one who is an attorney that is experienced in the divorce laws of New Jersey.  During the divorce mediation, the mediator will at first explain the divorce mediation process and how it works.  After providing those introductory remarks, the divorce mediator will then typically interview the divorcing couple to obtain all the requisite information required from the couple needed to begin preparation of the agreement that will govern their divorce.  After obtaining the required information, the New Jersey divorce mediator will then explain to the parties the law as it currently exists in the State of New Jersey and how that law would apply to their particular set of circumstances.

Hundreds of couples each year are utilizing divorce mediation to effectuate their divorces in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, as well as throughout the entire State of New Jersey.  Typically, the divorce mediation process only takes a few sessions to complete.  It is possible to conduct the divorce mediation and finalize the entire divorce within sixty days from start to finish.

The divorce mediator will help you and your spouse through the divorce process and explain everything to you both in terms that you can understand.  Divorce mediations can now proceed by way of zoom or Microsoft teams, which makes the process more convenient than ever.  You can successfully mediate your entire divorce without having to leave the comfort of your own home.
