How Quickly Can I Get a Consultation for my Divorce?

Posted by Vincent C. DeLuca | Oct 13, 2020 | 0 Comments

Anyone contemplating filing for a divorce should be able to get a consultation very quickly.  If you are unable to get a consultation at least over the phone within a day or two of contacting the attorney, that may mean that the attorney is too busy to effectively handle any new divorce cases at that particular time.

A large percentage of divorce lawyers in New Jersey charge a fee for an initial consultation.  Make sure you are aware of this fact prior to scheduling same.  Also make sure you inquire as to how long the initial divorce consultation will be.  Some lawyers have strict limits on how much time they will spend on an initial consultation, often this limit is set at 30 minutes.

In anticipation of your initial consultation for a divorce you should make sure you have a list of questions prepared that you wish to have answered by the lawyer.  Such question may include: What is the lawyer's requested retainer? What is the lawyer's hourly billing rate? How long has the lawyer been practicing divorce law?  Is the lawyer a certified matrimonial law attorney? Etc…

The law firm of Villani and DeLuca has four full time lawyers who devote the entirety of their practices to divorce law.  This makes Villani and DeLuca one of the biggest divorce firms in the Jersey Shore area.  We also offer a free divorce consultation to all potential clients.  We do not have a strict limit on how much time we spend with prospective clients during an initial consultation.  The initial divorce consultations conducted by the divorce lawyers at Villani and DeLuca typically last about an hour.  An initial consultation is an important exercise as it gives both the potential client and the lawyer the opportunity to figure out whether or not they are a good fit for one another.

The Villani and DeLuca law firm offers a variety of options for an initial consultation as well.  We can conduct the initial consultation over the phone, by way of zoom video conference, or if preferred in person.  We have three convenient locations in Brick, Point Pleasant Beach and Red Bank, New Jersey.  Call today to schedule your free initial divorce consultation.
